Nerve Privacy Policy
Nerve ("the app") shows market sentiment indicators. The app has no accounts and does not send or store personal information such as your name, email, contacts, or location on our servers. The app shows ads (Google AdMob); to show them, Google processes device information such as the advertising identifier (section 6). Payments for the "Ad-free" subscription are handled by the App Store and Google Play (section 7). The Android app does not include the "Ad-free" subscription yet; section 7 applies to it from the update that adds it. The app sends usage statistics and crash reports that do not identify you to Google Firebase, and the same usage statistics to Amplitude, to improve the app and (Google only) to measure the ads that promote it; you can turn this off at any time in Settings (section 13).
1. Personal information we collect
We collect none. The app does not send or store information that identifies you on our servers. Information processed by Google and Apple for ads and payments is described in sections 6 and 7, and analytics and diagnostics data in section 13.
2. Information stored only on your device
The following stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app. We cannot see it.
- Settings — selected market (stocks or crypto), pinned indicators, notification settings (types, timing, and events you turned reminders on for), language, theme, your ad consent choice, subscription status (expiry date), and the widget refresh time
- Installation ID — a random value created on first launch. It is never sent to our servers. Only its first 8 characters are included when you choose to send a feedback email (section 4)
- Cache — the indicator data the app downloaded. You can remove it with "Clear Cache" in Settings
- Scheduled reminders — event reminders are scheduled by your device (local notifications). We do not collect push tokens
3. Connection records
To download public market data, the app connects to our server (nerve-prod.web.app, hosted on Google Firebase). As with any internet connection, your IP address, the time, the requested address, and the app and OS version (User-Agent) are recorded in the hosting provider's (Google) access logs. These records are used only to operate and secure the service and are not used to identify you or combined with other data. The access logs we can see are kept for 30 days by default, and Firebase Hosting keeps IP addresses for a few months to detect abuse. These records are stored in Google's data centers in the United States and other countries (transfer abroad: end of section 13).
4. Feedback email
"Send Feedback" in Settings composes an email in your mail app. The app version, OS version, device model, app language, and the first 8 characters of the installation ID are pre-filled so we can look into your report; you can review and delete them before sending. Emails you send (including your address) are used only to reply to you and are deleted within one year after the reply. Records of complaints or disputes about the subscription or payments are kept for three years, as required by Korea's Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
5. Sharing
We share personal information with third parties, or let third parties collect it in the app, only for ads (section 6, Google AdMob) and for measuring the ads that promote the app (section 13, Google Ads). We do not otherwise share it, and we never sell it. Hosting (section 3) and analytics and diagnostics (section 13) are outsourced to Google Firebase (Google LLC), and the analysis of usage statistics (section 13) also to Amplitude (Amplitude, Inc.); both process the data on our behalf (transfer abroad: end of section 13). Payments (Apple, Google) are processed by those companies under their own policies, as described in section 7.
The app contains three data collection tools:
- Google Mobile Ads SDK (Google AdMob) — collected by: Google LLC / data: advertising identifier, device and app information, approximate location from the IP address, interactions with ads / purpose: serving ads, preventing fraud, and personalized ads if you allow them / retention: under Google's policy / how to refuse: turn off personalized ads in Tracking on iOS or Ads on Android; while the "Ad-free" subscription is active there is no processing (section 6)
- Firebase SDK (Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics) — processed by: Google LLC, on our behalf / data: usage statistics, crash reports, per-installation identifiers, approximate location from the masked IP address / purpose: improving the app, analyzing errors, measuring the ads that promote the app / retention and transfer abroad: end of section 13 / how to refuse: turn off Settings › About › "Share diagnostics & usage" (section 13)
- Amplitude SDK (Amplitude Analytics) — processed by: Amplitude, Inc., on our behalf / data: usage statistics (which screens are opened, which features are used, when sessions start and end), device and app information (device model, OS, app version, language), per-installation identifier — no IP address, location, or advertising identifier is sent / purpose: improving the app (analyzing feature usage) / retention and transfer abroad: end of section 13 / how to refuse: turn off Settings › About › "Share diagnostics & usage" (section 13)
6. Ads
The app shows ads from Google AdMob (Google LLC). To serve ads and prevent fraud, Google processes the advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Android Advertising ID), device and app information (device model, OS, app version, language, and approximate location from the IP address), and interactions with ads. On iOS, personalized ads are used only if you choose "Allow Tracking"; on Android, they follow your device's ad settings (you can delete your advertising ID or turn off ad personalization). Where required by your region, we first ask with a consent form. If you don't consent or turn personalization off, ads are non-personalized and the app works the same. You can change your choice at any time in your device settings (Tracking on iOS, Ads on Android). Home-screen widgets keep updating when you watch one ad in the app every 48 hours — the widget itself contains no ads. How Google uses ad data: policies.google.com/technologies/ads. While the "Ad-free" subscription (section 7) is active, no ads are shown and the ad SDK (Google AdMob) does no processing. The usage statistics in section 13, including ad measurement, continue regardless of the subscription until you turn them off in Settings.
7. Subscription payments
Payment, renewal, and refunds for the "Ad-free" subscription are handled by the App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Google). We do not receive your payment method, name, or address; the app only checks the subscription status (active or not, expiry date) on your device. Starting or restoring the subscription is included in the usage statistics (section 13; you can turn this off in Settings). Receipts, management, and refunds are handled in your store account settings.
8. External sites
Data source links in the app (CNN Business, alternative.me, FRED, ApeWisdom, BLS, BEA, Federal Reserve) and links in this document open external sites, which have their own privacy policies.
9. Children
The app is not directed at children (it is not a service mainly used by children under 14), and we do not collect personal information. Ads are limited to a general-audience content rating.
10. Your choices
You can remove on-device information at any time by deleting the app or using "Clear Cache". You can turn off analytics and diagnostics at any time in Settings (section 13). For requests about connection records or feedback emails, contact us below.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, we will post it on this page and update the effective date. Changes that introduce data collection (for example, server push notifications) will be announced before the app update.
12. Contact
Operator: grohong (sole proprietorship, Republic of Korea) · Representative: Hong Seong Ho · Email: dev@grohong.com
Privacy officer: Hong Seong Ho (representative) · dev@grohong.com
Business details are in the footer of this page.
13. Analytics and diagnostics
The app sends usage statistics and crash reports that do not identify you to Google Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics): which screens are opened, which features are used, whether the "Ad-free" subscription is started or restored (the plan, price, and currency — never your payment method, name, or address), and technical details when the app crashes (device model, OS version, app version, where the error happened). Google Analytics derives an approximate location (country or city level) from the masked IP address; the app itself does not read your device's location. This data is sent together with identifiers that Firebase generates at random for each installation (the app-instance ID, the Firebase installation ID, and the Crashlytics installation ID; these are different from the installation ID in section 2). This data contains no name, email, account, or advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not link it to any person. Google processes this data under its own policies (see Firebase's privacy and security page).
The same usage statistics (which screens are opened, which features are used, whether the "Ad-free" subscription is started or restored (the plan), and when sessions start and end) are also sent to Amplitude (Amplitude, Inc.), together with the device model, OS version, app version, and language, and an identifier that Amplitude generates at random for each installation (the device ID; it is different from the installation ID in section 2 and from Firebase's identifiers). Crash reports are not sent to Amplitude. The app is configured not to include the IP address, location, advertising identifiers (IDFA, Android Advertising ID), or the vendor identifier (IDFV) in the data sent to Amplitude; as with any internet connection, the IP address of the upload request may appear in Amplitude's server logs (the same nature as section 3). Amplitude processes this data under its own policies (Amplitude's privacy notice: amplitude.com/privacy).
Some of these events, such as the first launch after install and the start of an "Ad-free" subscription, are also used to measure the ads we run to promote the app (Google Ads). On iPhone and iPad, Google's on-device conversion measurement also uses de-identified, temporary data derived from device signals such as the IP address and timestamps. This measurement does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) either, and it stops when you turn off sending in Settings. How Google uses information from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can turn this off at any time — Settings › About › "Share diagnostics & usage". From then on nothing is sent to Firebase or Amplitude, and unsent crash reports are deleted. It is on by default.
Transfer abroad (Google) — Data transferred: the connection records in section 3 (IP address, time, requested address, User-Agent) and the usage statistics, crash reports, per-installation identifiers and approximate location in this section / Countries: the United States and other countries where Google has data centers (the app's server is in the United States) / When and how: from time to time while you use the app, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) / Recipient: Google LLC (United States) — privacy contact googlekrsupport@google.com · Korean domestic representative Google Korea LLC, data-access-requests@google.com / Purpose: running and securing the server (section 3); improving the app, analyzing errors, and measuring the ads that promote the app (this section) / Retention: connection records 30 days (Firebase Hosting keeps IP data for a few months), crash reports 90 days, usage statistics up to 14 months at the event level — after that only aggregated reports that do not identify you remain, and records used for ad measurement follow Google's policy / Legal basis: outsourced processing and storage needed to provide the service (Article 28-8(1)(iii) of Korea's Personal Information Protection Act) / How to refuse, and what happens: the data in this section stops when you turn off the setting above, and the app works the same. The connection records in section 3 are needed to download market data and cannot be turned off separately; nothing is recorded while you don't use the app.
Transfer abroad (Amplitude) — Data transferred: the usage statistics, device and app information, and per-installation identifier sent to Amplitude under this section (no IP address, location, or advertising identifier) / Country: the United States (Amplitude's US data center) / When and how: from time to time while you use the app, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) / Recipient: Amplitude, Inc. (San Francisco, United States) — privacy contact privacy@amplitude.com / Purpose: improving the app (analyzing feature usage; not used for ad measurement) / Retention: until we delete the data in Amplitude or stop using Amplitude, after which Amplitude deletes it under its policy / Legal basis: outsourced processing and storage needed to provide the service (Article 28-8(1)(iii) of Korea's Personal Information Protection Act) / How to refuse, and what happens: the data in this section stops when you turn off the setting above, and the app works the same.
Change history
- 2026-10-13 — First version (published).
- 2026-10-13 — Added one sentence on when sections 6 and 7 (ads, subscription) apply to the Android app.
- 2026-10-15 — The Android app now shows ads, so section 6 applies to it; only the "Ad-free" subscription (section 7) is still pending there.
- 2026-10-17 — Sections 7 and 13: starting or restoring the subscription is part of the anonymous usage statistics (plan, price and currency; nothing about your payment).
- 2026-10-27 — Summary, sections 6 and 13: some usage statistics (such as the first launch after install and the start of the subscription) are also used to measure the ads that promote the app (Google Ads), including Google's on-device conversion measurement on iPhone and iPad. No advertising identifier is used, and the same switch in Settings turns it off. During the subscription, the ad SDK does no processing.
- 2026-10-29 — Clarifications; what the app collects is unchanged. Section 5 now states the only cases in which third parties receive or collect data in the app (ads and ad measurement) and lists the two data collection tools. Section 13 no longer calls this data "anonymous", because it is sent with per-installation identifiers, and ends with the transfer-abroad details for Google (data, countries, recipient and contacts, purpose, retention, legal basis, how to refuse). Section 3 adds how long Firebase Hosting keeps IP data, and section 9 mentions children under 14.
- 2026-11-01 — Summary, sections 5 and 13: the same usage statistics are also sent to Amplitude (Amplitude, Inc.), which processes them on our behalf, together with device and app information and an identifier that Amplitude generates for each installation. No IP address, location, advertising identifier, or IDFV is included; crash reports and ad measurement stay with Google only; and the same switch in Settings turns it off. Section 5 now lists three data collection tools, and section 13 ends with the transfer-abroad details for Amplitude (data, country, recipient and contact, purpose, retention, legal basis, how to refuse).
Nerve
6. 광고
앱은 Google AdMob(Google LLC)의 광고를 보여 줍니다. Google 의 광고 데이터 처리: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Google 이 파트너의 앱에서 얻은 정보를 쓰는 방법: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
